Aluminum Case

Aluminum transfer cases are a vital component of your car, truck or motorcycle. They house the gears for your vehicle's transmission. 1、Remove the bolts that hold your vehicle's aluminum transfer case with a flat-headed screwdriver. When the bolts are loose enough, lift up the case to remove it.         

2、Use a cloth or rag soaked in acetone to clean the aluminum transfer case. Carefully remove all of the grease. Rinse the aluminum in a sink to remove any stubborn residue and use a stainless steel brush, if necessary.         

3、Use a grinder to grind the crack on your aluminum transfer case. Thoroughly smooth out the crack and the area around it to keep it clean.         

4、Preheat the aluminum case 350 degrees in an electric oven. Preheating makes it much easier to weld the aluminum.         

5、Put on your welding gloves and install welding wire into your MIG welder. Weld the wire into the crack in your aluminum transfer case. Continue welding until the crack is completely closed, then let the case sit for about 30 minutes to cool off.         

6、Replace the aluminum transfer case back into your vehicle. Take your car out for a test drive to make sure everything works properly.
